Project Manager - Dublin, Ohio

A Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of project management related to Phase I environmental site assessment activities; investigating the nature and extent of contamination and/or developing and implementing cleanup and closure activities; and environmental compliance, construction management, and health & safety. In addition, project managers are expected to maintain a personal client base with limited assistance from senior personnel. This position reports directly to the Office Manager and must be able to manage project team member resources and subcontractors in the context of managing projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·        Provide/manage sufficient amount of work to keep a project management team productive.

·        Identify work opportunities with existing and potential clients and make efforts to secure the work through networking and the referral process.

·        Understand and perform all tasks necessary to complete a project’s scope of work. Activities include, but are not limited to, (Assessment) identify environmental concerns at a parcel of real estate; file review and record searches; prepare reports documenting environmental concerns; and  formulate recommendations for corrective action; (Investigation) advance soil borings, obtain and field screen soil samples; install, develop and sample monitoring wells; complete geologic and aquifer studies; prepare samples for the laboratory; perform soil-gas surveys; perform excavation zone assessments; and perform record searches; (Cleanup) install and operate product recovery systems; perform pilot tests to support remedial system design; conduct remedial system installation and operation; maintain, coordinate and oversee tank removals; and decontaminate manufacturing facilities.

·        Train field and staff personnel in tasks associated with the project’s scope of work.

·        Mentor field and staff personnel through the technical training program.

·        Schedule and maintain productivity of all staff and field personnel.

·        Negotiate permit terms with regulatory agencies.

·        Evaluate, select, and schedule subcontractors.

·        Develop and maintain a client base of repeat clients and be responsible for insuring a continuing working relationship with that customer.

·        Prepare proposals, budgets, and scopes of work for projects.

·        Prepare job descriptions of successfully completed projects and update August Mack resume for Marketing purposes.

·        Provide technical assistance to the Marketing Department to increase August Mack’s client base.

·        Maintain a billable goal of 64 hours per 80 hour pay period (80% productivity).

·        Preparation and technical review of written reports.

·        Establish and maintain budgets.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:

·        The principals, practices, & techniques of environmental investigations including soil and groundwater sampling and analysis.

·        Various remedial systems and associated feasibility studies.

·        Regulatory cleanup programs and guidance.

·        Hazards inherent to the environmental work and related safety measures.

Skill in:

·        Regulatory interaction and negotiation.

·        Conducting compliance audits.

·        Interpreting geologic and hydrogeologic information and chemical data.

Ability to:

·        Prioritize work load and multitask.

·        Document and organize while working on multiple projects.

·        Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

·        Work closely and manage others in a team environment.

Additional Requirements:

This classification requires the use of a personal or company vehicle on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, have an acceptable driving record, and receive medical clearance from a baseline physical.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Requires 5 years of project management experience in environmental consulting and a bachelor’s degree in geology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field. Strong computer and verbal/written communication skills are a must. Business development experience and knowledge of Ohio state regulations is a plus. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
